Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your path straight. PROVERBS 3:5-6

There’s something about the walk with God, that can feel like wandering through a dense, foggy forest at midnight... You can’t see the WAY clearly until you see Him, but you know there’s something ahead—something profound, something life-changing. And yet, the journey can feel a little messy at times-- and confusing to those witnessing your journey. I’ve been there, tangled in doubt in moments my faith was shaken and my knees weak. But here’s the raw truth: a walk with God can be an unpredictable, deeply personal odyssey that demands everything you’ve got— all the faith you can muster, and then some.

Enlightenment is not the destination

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably asked yourself, “Am I really growing? Or just circling the mountain again?” This journey is not about perfection or ticking boxes. It’s about allowing God to peel back layers of your soul, confront the darkness within you, and embracing the light He ignites within and around you, through The Holy Spirit.

I remember nights when I felt utterly lost—praying, crying, and seeking clarity, —and then, a spark of peace would flicker inside me, like a candle fighting the wind. That peace is Jesus' peace. That’s the nature of this path and growth in the Lord: moments of despair followed by an explosion of hope, and is littered throughout the stories of the bible fueled by faith. It's a dance between darkness and light, and you have to be willing to keep moving, even when the music feels offbeat.

Here’s what I’ve learned about navigating this journey:

  • Patience is your closest ally. Spiritual growth doesn’t happen overnight. It’s an unfolding, like a flower blooming in its own time.

  • Vulnerability is strength. Don’t be afraid to admit to God in prayer when you’re struggling or confused. That honesty opens the door to deeper connection, healing and understanding. He already knows anyway.

  • Seek community, but trust your own experience. Others can guide you, and this is needed but your path is also uniquely yours, written for you by God's own hand, before you were ever even formed in your own mother's womb. He knows what He is doing. TRUST HIM.

  • Expect to be misunderstood.

Embracing the Journey: What It Really Means

The truth of this journey is far more subtle than you may imagine and, honestly, more beautiful. Enlightenment isn’t the destination; JESUS IS !!

It’s a process of awakening to who you truly are in Christ, beneath all the noise and distractions of this world. Beneath all the muck the enemy will try to throw at you. And, at the very heart of it is this-- You're HIS.

It means learning to listen in a different way to God, to His quiet whispers. It means surrendering control and trusting that even when you can’t see the whole picture, you are being led exactly where you need to be.

Here’s a practical way to start embracing this journey:

  1. Create sacred space daily. Whether it’s five minutes of prayer, journaling, or simply sitting in silence, make time to connect with God.

  2. Practice gratitude relentlessly. Even on the hardest days, find one thing to be thankful for. The blood shed at Calvary by Jesus is a good place to start. It shifts your perspective and opens your heart.

  3. Be curious about your emotions. Instead of pushing away fear, anger, or sadness, embrace them, then give all of them to Jesus. If you are asking how do I give it to Jesus? I would suggest watching The Green Mile, not only is that a beautiful movie, but may help you grasp the concept of how Christ takes our burdens and pain and transforms us entirely.

This isn’t easy. It can be messy. But it’s real—and it’s worth it.

The Role of Prophetic Insights and Prayer in Spiritual Growth

I can’t talk about this journey and spiritual growth without mentioning the power of prophetic insights and prayer. These aren’t just religious buzzwords—they are lifelines. When I’ve felt disconnected or overwhelmed, prayer has been my anchor, a way to pour out my heart and listen for God’s voice. Prophetic insights—those moments of sudden clarity or divine guidance—have often come when I least expected them, like a light breaking through the clouds.

If you’re seeking to deepen your connection with God, here are some ways to invite prophetic insight and prayer into your life:

  • Keep a prayer journal. Write down your prayers and any impressions or messages you receive. Over time, you’ll see patterns and confirmations.

  • Ask for clarity , boldness and courage. Don’t be shy about asking God to reveal what you need to know, even if it’s uncomfortable. Jeremiah 33:3 tells us He is happy to do so, when we call to Him.

  • Your circle and what you consume matters. Books, especially the bible, podcasts, and communities that focus on faith and spiritual growth can nurture your soul.

  • Walk in a heart posture of humility and repentance. Understanding God sits high and looks low, it's important revere His presence and praise Him duly.

After finding Christ, accepting His gift of salvation and beginning your journey, it's important to give yourself grace. This is a marathon, not a 100 meter sprint. Remember this is a dialogue, not a monologue. The more you open and surrender your heart, mind and spirit to God, the more you’ll hear from Him. Also, read your Bible. Unmistakable way to hear from Him., and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him Mathew 6:33 gives us the blueprint " Seek ye first the kingdom and all it's righteousness and the rest shall be added to you.

Practical Steps to Deepen Your Spiritual Growth

Okay, so you’re ready to dive deeper—but where do you start? Here are some actionable steps that have helped me—and countless others—move forward on this path:

  • Set intentional goals. Maybe it’s to pray every morning, read a spiritual book each week, or attend a faith-based group to connect to others on the journey and foster community. Small, consistent actions that lead you to step out of your comfort, and build momentum.

  • Practice stillness. Being present in the moment helps you notice God’s presence in everyday life. Making time for solitude is a good thing.

  • Serve others. Acts of kindness and service open your heart and connect you to God in a pure way. Jesus served, and through that service, He saved.

  • Reflect regularly and perform only for an audience of one: God. Take time to reflect on your journey. Follow the promptings of the Precious Holy Spirit and adjust as needed. Pivoting, sometimes with little notice, is most definitely part of the journey with Christ as a believer. Best get used to it now.

And here’s a little secret: it’s not only okay to rest, but necessary. Spiritual growth isn’t about pushing harder; it’s about tuning in, surrendering more and allowing transformation to happen naturally.

Walking the Path with Raw Honesty and Faith

If I could whisper one thing to you right now, it would be this: Don’t be afraid to be real with yourself and with God. The spiritual growth journey is not about pretending you have it all together. It’s about showing up—messy, broken, hopeful—and trusting that God meets you there.

Sometimes, the hardest part is simply being—sitting with your doubts, your fears, your questions—and letting God’s love wash over you anyway. That’s where true transformation begins.

If you want to explore more about this spiritual growth journey, I encourage you to take that first step today. Light a candle, say a prayer, INVITE CHRIST IN and open your heart to the possibilities. You are not alone. There is a community waiting to walk with you, to pray with you, and to celebrate every step you take toward the light of Christ.

Your journey is unfolding right now—embrace it with courage, with faith, and with the fierce and bold hope that you are exactly where you need to be. God never misses.

He is in the details-- look for Him there.

With love,

Priscilla
